State of Appalachia is an originals & covers band focusing on Americana songs both old and new.
State of Appalachia consists of:
Gary Vann - Banjo & Fiddle, Gary has been performing for 30 years in various bands. He is also 2 times winner of the Australia national banjo championship. When he’s not performing live he teaches banjo & fiddle. A very talented instrumentalist playing banjo in the band as well as some occasional fiddle.
Adam Christy - guitar & vocals, Adam is an acoustic guitar player and vocalist who loves performing folk, country and blues with a particular bent for outlaw country. He has always loved Appalachian style music and performs it with a raw, raspy & soulful vocal performance.
Maree Fargo - Double Bass & Vocals, Maree is also a member of Palomino III & A Band Called Twang. An Excellent double bass player with extraordinary vocals, Maree brings a whole new vibe to State of Appalachia.
Paul Redfern - Fiddle, Former member of The Lampreys and System of a Hoedown. Paul is an excellent player and teacher of the violin and viola.
State of Appalachia was formed out of a love of American bluegrass music, country/rock, folk and blues. This music has its roots largely originating from the region of Appalachia in the US hence the bands name. State of Appalachia covers songs of The Steeldrivers, Tyler Childers, Colter Wall, Chris Stapleton and more as well as performing several of their own originals. They are currently performing once a month at the Cardigan bar in Sandgate Qld.
